General Definition of work:
The Laboratory Technician Trainee performs a variety of duties and responsibilities such as
testing wastewater, collecting samples and records data. The primary function of the lab
department personnel is to perform technical work involving the chemical and physical
examination of water and wastewater.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and standardize chemicals and solutions.
Inspects and monitors lab equipment to maintain adequate operating conditions.
Collects and tests wastewater samples according to TCEQ, EPA and District standards.
Assures that equipment is calibrated, sterilized and in operation.
Maintain daily records of analysis and operation.
Performs other related duties as assigned to enhance the overall operations and services
of the Laboratory.
Must adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Job requires a diploma from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
District may hire Laboratory Technician Trainee with no previous work experience.
Must be able to obtain a Wastewater Class D within one year of employment and a
Wastewater Class C within two years of employment.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License Class C.
Must have basic computer and data entry skills
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a fit for duty physical examination.
