What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oncology Data Specialist position at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital?
Responsible for accessing, abstracting, coding and data entry of cancer patient data. Maintains all cancer registry functions in accordance with American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Guidelines. Conducts follow-up and case-finding as regulated by State agencies.
Minimum Education• Consideration will be given to an individual with an Associates or Bachelors Degree in a related field, including Health Sciences, Transcription, Medical Coding, etc..

• RHIA/RHIT, special consideration will be given to this certification• Certified as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) OR, RN, LPN (Obtaining certification as a CTR within 3 years of hire date).

Minimum Work Experience• At least one year experience in Medical Records or Tumor Registry, preferred.• Five (5) years hospital experience or similar.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
