Effectively manage and provide leadership for the program’s faculty, staff and participants.

Experience:
At least 5 years teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for the administration of the daily organization of DAEP program activities including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
- Assist in the interviewing, selection and orientation of new DAEP staff.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of disciplinary alternative education programs with a specific focus on district-wide special programs to enhance student achievement.
- Establish and enforce campus rules, expectations, consequences and operating procedures through collaborative means with other campus personnel.
- Ensure that program rules,expectations, consequences, and procedures are clearly posted and provided to each student.
- Assist in the effective communication of the rules, expectations, and operating procedures.
- Perform the managerial and organizational tasks related to the daily operations of the program.
- Employ effective strategies to promote student compliance with rules, expectations and operating procedures.
- Suggest behavioral intervention methods to other campus personnel.
- Implement approved behavioral intervention strategies.
- Proved individual academic assistance to students as needed.
- Assist in the supervision of all students and ensure adequate supervision in all classrooms.
- Follow the individualized Educational Plan and Behavioral Intervention Plans of assigned special needs students.
- Provide pre- and post- placement interventions and assistance as requested by administration.
- Appropriately redirect and address student violations of the rules, expectations and operating procedures by using approved methods for the assigned campus.
- Conduct student orientations and student release meetings as necessary.
- Conduct parent conferences, faculty and staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Request adequate resources for DAEP teachers and staff members.
- Request the involvement of a counselor, principal, diagnostician, police officer, or other LDISD professionals according to the approved procedures for the assigned campus.
- Share information regarding successful behavioral intervention strategies with student’s home campus personnel according to the approved procedures for the assigned campus.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with employees, co-workers, supervisors, district personnel, community members, volunteers, and district partners.
- Effectively communicate with supervisor, colleagues, district personnel, students and parents.
- Know and comply with all federal and state laws, district and campus guidelines, regulations, routines, and operating procedures.
- Implement policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board.
- Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
- Exercise strict professional confidentiality.
- Suggest and implement changes to the program as needed.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
