What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant- Tall Oaks position at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center?
Essential Functions
- Assists with performing administrative and clinical tasks to keep the practice running smoothly, including:
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Filling out insurance forms
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Answering phones, greeting patients, and patient correspondence to include scheduling appointments and contacting patients regarding billing
- Performing clinical duties, including:
- Taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians/mid-level during examinations, and remove sutures and change dressings
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and sometimes perform basic in office, CLIA waived laboratory tests
- Arrange examining room instruments and equipment, order and maintain supplies and equipment, and keeping waiting and examination rooms neat and clean
- Facilitate same day access for all patients requesting to be treated by provider.
- Typically works under the direction of the practice manager.
Education/ Experience
- Two (2) years medical practice experience as a certified/registered Medical Assistant preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Current registered or certified Medical Assistant certification from an accredited agency, required
- BLS certification required
