What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technologist position at Lanco?
Essential Functions:
- Write and maintain process routers and work center instructions.
- Lean Visual Factory process and initiatives.
- Leads Small Group Improvement Activity Teams.
- Develop floor layout and updates as it changes
- Support design concept tooling and fixtures for new process and parts
- Suggest changes to current product with approval from Product Engineer
- Develop manufacturing plans to implement continuous improvement projects
- Support and / or facilitate 5S and point Kaizen activities for Operations
- Perform cost engineering and standard analysis on products and processes
- Provide make versus buy analyses on products and processes
- Perform capacity and factory layout analyses
- Audit ECRs/ECNs for current products and process.
- Develop new processes and propose new machinery and equipment to support cost reduction, productivity and throughput improvements.
- Coordinate with operations to define best practices and resolve manufacturing issues
- Participate in and conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as required to detect and correct potential safety issues on the shop floor
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries; Assist in delivering required training to ensure that all coworkers have the necessary skills to perform their jobs properly and safely.

- Ability to communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal and external).
- Ability to understand and implement lean principles and practices in all manufacturing decisions.
- Skilled in applying technical knowledge to support and enhance engineering practices.
- Ability to demonstrate an orderly, analytical thought process. Can sufficiently assemble and organize data.
- Ability to draw relevant conclusions.
Work Environment:
This is primarily an office classification, and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 10% travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical
- 5 years related experience
