Position Overview
The Landscape Spray Technician is responsible for applying pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other treatments to lawns, gardens, and other outdoor areas to enhance and maintain landscape health. The role requires expertise in the safe and effective use of chemicals, as well as the ability to identify plant issues and recommend appropriate treatments.
Essential Responsibilities
Spraying & Application
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other landscape treatments as per company guidelines and safety standards.
- Ensure the proper mixing, handling, and storage of chemicals.
- Follow prescribed application rates, schedules, and techniques to ensure optimal results for clients' landscapes.
- Utilize spraying equipment such as sprayers, backpack sprayers, and truck-mounted equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools, chemicals, and equipment are safely stored when not in use.
Knowledge, Experience, and Other Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A valid pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe).
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance, spraying, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of landscape plants, pests, and common diseases.
- Ability to operate landscape spraying equipment and follow detailed instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow safety protocols strictly.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License (required).
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects and tools.
- Arrive to work on time and adhere to the company's uniform and grooming policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required by the company.
- Assist in other duties as assigned, including landscape maintenance and special projects.
Work Environment
- The job is primarily outdoors in commercial, or public areas.
- Exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions is a regular part of the role.
- Occasional indoor work may be required for office duties or equipment maintenance.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
