What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult ESL Instructor position at LASC?
Our accredited institution has been offering quality ESL programs to college-aged international students since 1982 with campuses in Los Angeles, Irvine, and Rowland Heights. We are currently seeking in-person ESL teachers for our morning classes.
1. The morning classes run from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Instructors would be compensated for 20 hours per week (18 in-person teaching hours and 2 remote prep-time hours).
2. The evening class schedule would be 5:30 pm to 10:20 pm Monday through Wednesday and 5:30 pm to 8:20 pm on Thursdays (18 in-person teaching hours and 2 remote prep-time hours).
We also offer two professional development sessions per quarter led by our Academic Director and Head Teachers to guide our faculty in developing and/or learning new skills and methods.
We frequently promote our high performing teachers to Head Teacher, Academic Director, Campus Director and Director positions.

Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop individual lesson plans that align with the school curriculum
- Teach adult international students in-person with average class size of 10-15 students
- Design engaging and interactive lessons for adult ESL learners
- Assign homework and projects to students via our online platform
- Administer quizzes and tests
- Grade students' work and provide constructive feedback
- Record attendance and grades using the school's system
- Submit monthly / quarterly reports for private tutoring students
- Attend bi-quarterly faculty meetings & participate in professional development
Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in the Education field
- Teaching ESL certificates / credentials
- 1 years ESL/EFL teaching experience (preferred)
- Virtual teaching experience required
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Computer proficiency: MS Office, Google Classroom and Cambridge One
- Ability to learn and navigate new online platform
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
