Job Description: Graphic Designer
Reports To: Director Brand Creative
FLSA Designation: Full Time, Salaried, Exempt
What you will accomplish: “Branding they will fall in love with”— everything you do will support and drive this promise to the organization and our clients. Your role as a growing designer is to take on more of a direct role in managing small projects and campaigns, more autonomously, while continuing to support the Director and Art Directors in developing and executing larger projects and campaigns. You now understand the basic processes. tools, and the responsibilities of a designer and can be counted on to deliver high quality, accurate work on a consistent basis. You will leverage your experience to craft beautiful and simple design, flawless typography, unique typographic solutions, color application, engaging and clear/concise composition, and develop dynamic ideas that connect with appropriate audiences, and increase their desirability in our clients’ products and brands.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with the entire creative team to establish a unified brand understanding and voice for the company, supporting a creative audit to elevate our innovation and marketing tactics.
  • Conceptualize campaign vision, harnessing original graphics, copy, content websites, social media, and other marketing materials
  • Review, strengthen and deliver on creative briefs for your projects.
  • Ensure creative brief direction is followed, contribute to scheduling of your projects with sales/marketing team, ensure deadlines are hit consistently, and expected deliverables are met.
  • Identify and communicate in real-time to team leads (to Director and Art Directors), any need to delegate projects to other internal or external production resources to maintain deadlines and quality.
  • Obtain creative leadership approval by sharing development and final creative to be presented with Director of Brand Creative, prior to sharing with sales/marketing team.
  • Obtain Senior Leadership, Sales, and/or Marketing approval as required by presenting final layouts, storyboards, and illustrations, encouraging members to provide feedback, and responding to internal commentary and requests
  • Assist in evaluating and evolving art department standards for production, productivity, quality, and client service
  • Ensure your projects and project team members adhere to current processes, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and proposing and creating processes and tools to support design operations
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales divisions in providing suggestions and feedback on improving the branding and design for each respective client/business.
  • Support the entire team when necessary to prepare both external and internal presentations, even on projects not directly assigned as a lead.
  • Consistently contribute insights through pop-culture trends, market trends, consumer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Understand and adhere to intellectual property laws including copyrights, trademarks and service marks related to but not limited to logomarks, wordmarks, original art, typography, fonts, stock images, and video and audio assets. Protecting both the agency and our clients.
Qualifications:
  • BS or BFA or Technical degree in Graphic Design, Advertising Design, Communication and Visual Arts, or relevant field.
  • 1-3 years as a professional junior graphic designer or junior art director roles. Time spent in similar official intern role can be included if verifiable.
  • Web and social media asset development experience.
  • Have a solid knowledge of photography selection, cropping and basic retouching.
  • Software Experience:
    • Required:
      • Adobe Creative Cloud for image editing and design
      • Photoshop
      • Illustrator
      • InDesign
    • Nice-to-have, likely will have to learn:
      • Website building platforms like WordPress or similar
      • Digital content creation software (animation/gif creation) with Adobe After Effects, Adobe Rush/Premier, or similar
    • Optional, but helpful to know:
      • Figma
      • Meister Task or similar project management tools
      • 3D image creation with Adobe Substance 3D or similar
Required Skills:
  • Ability to verbally articulate visual ideas, and sketch them if necessary
  • Proficiency with design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Exceptional capability with typography and compositional layout.
  • Can articulate a clear and concise creative vision for design projects, and ability to understand and apply business strategies to your design.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
