LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full-time Business Associate opening.
General Scope of Responsibilities
The Business Associate, under the direction of the Assistant Business Director LEARN, will perform a variety of functions in support of LEARN’s member district, Regional School District (RSD 17).
Relationship within the Organization
The Business Associate reports directly to the Assistant Business Director of LEARN and operationally will support the work of the Director of Finance and Operations at RSD17.
Responsibilities
- Add new vendors to the accounting system (Infinite Visions).
- Maintains current vendor information on all active vendors for the district; including requesting tax information.
- Process weekly accounts payable (i.e. checks/ACH).
- Review open purchase orders for all schools and departments on a quarterly basis and close out as necessary.
- Prepare and distribute 1099s.
- Manage the invoicing and payment process for the schools pre-school and afterschool program including invoices, processing payments, and posting deposits.
- Prepare journal entries to support banking transfers.
- Assist with payroll as needed and serve as backup.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and controls in accounting and business office functions.
- Serve as a resource for the office staff in implementing best practices regarding the use of accounting software.
- Participate in user groups and conferences for accounting software.
- Perform other duties as appropriately assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience working in accounting is preferred.
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
Competencies:
- Maintain a stationary position for extended periods of time to operate computer, printer, telephone and other desktop equipment.
- Demonstrated competency in preparing, interpreting, and analyzing data in a spreadsheet environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple levels within an organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred knowledge of Infinite Visions.
