Purpose of Job:
|
Organize, manage, coordinate and monitor all aspects of school age child care/WEECare program.
|
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.
|
General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Supervise the School Age Child care (SACC) and WeeCare programs
- Implement program’s Mission Statement
- Ensure district compliance in areas of responsibility with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Inform staff of State Rules & Regulations and ensure they are implemented
- Meet and maintain all safety requirements from both local and state officials
- Responsible for reporting any reasonable suspicions related to a child’s health or welfare as a result of abuse or neglect to the appropriate state/community agency
- Responsible for TDOE state reports to maintain program license
- Set and maintain high standards of accountability for both staff and leaders of SACC and Wee Care
- Continually evaluate areas of supervision to identify opportunities for greater effectiveness and efficiencies
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance and provide direction/guidance as needed
- Communicate job vacancies, conduct interviews, and make recommendations for hire to Director of Schools
- Provide staff development for workers and assist with maintaining those records, as well as own staff development requirements
- Oversee responsible parties in scheduling site-based staff for regular hours of operation and for emergency care (Snow Days)
- Provide oversight of staff in arranging field trips and transportation needs with the Transportation Director
- Plan and conduct daily/weekly meetings with personnel
- Provide oversight of staff in maintaining yearly inventory data for each SACC and Wee Care classroom and retaining responsibility for any/all replacement or removal of equipment
- Provide oversight of staff responsibilities to maintain weekly/monthly/yearly tuition charges and information for parents
- Maintain waiting list for SACC and Wee Care on a yearly basis and monitor availability for new enrollment
- Handle any parent issues or concerns regarding students enrolled in program
- Handle any staff related issues and concerns and maintain required documentation
- Relocate/recommend staff placement in both SACC and WeeCare
- Ensure that the use of the district’s resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possible
- Act as fiscal agent of SACC/Wee Care; handling all banking aspects (deposits and return checks). Perform accounting responsibilities as needed.
- Plan and prepare SACC & Wee Care yearly budget expenditures and prepare reports for both Finance Director and Board Members
- Authorize purchase of all materials and supplies needed for the program
- Work with school system legal representatives in any/all collection matters (notices and court appearances) and individually monitor past due accounts and balances
- Submit any/all work order needs with appropriate personnel for SACC and Wee Care
- Receive staff development hours in areas of business and childcare in excess of 40 hours per year
- Work with department supervisors to assist with coverage for district events
- Work in coordination with Assistant Director of Schools to communicate with school system personnel (Principals, teachers and custodial staff) to assist with implementation of program and system needs
- Communicate monthly with parents of SACC and Wee Care in the form of parent newsletters and webpage
- Work with community leaders to form partnerships that benefit both the system and the children the program serves

- Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times and support district goals
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of district information
- Support the effective delivery of a high quality of education for all students
- Provide exceptional levels of professional support and service to staff and public
- May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
- Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen

- Associate’s Degree in related field, such as business, education, childcare (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Assistant Director or Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
