What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Lee Smart, P.S., Inc.?
The primary responsibility of the Paralegal is to provide specialized support for Lee Smart’s attorneys with overall and day-to-day case management. To ensure the highest level of services are provided, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Essential Duties
Assist attorneys in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences.
Conduct legal / case research and investigate factual evidence of a case.
Conduct interviews of clients, witnesses (lay and expert), and investigation of same.
Prepare exhibits, charts and diagrams for display of information.
Prepare detailed reports, budgets and memoranda for attorney and client review.
Draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, routine discovery and answers thereto.
Produce transcript and record summaries, chronologies and indexes.
Organize and track files for important case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents.
Monitor cases for adherence to case schedule, deadlines and client requirements.
Create and maintain case management database (and any other technical aspects of case management, including document coding and imaging).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Up to date with court rules as well as evidence and discovery rules
Must be technically sound.
Must have advanced knowledge of eDiscovery
Knowledge of CoCounsel is a plus
Strong knowledge of federal as well as state court system
Experience with trial preparation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint),
Summation, E-Transcript Viewer
Time Management / Timekeeping Skills for standard billing practices (on 1 / 6 hour basis)

Medical, Dental, Vision, and Basic Life is available to all Lee Smart employees (and their Spouse / Domestic Partner and their Dependents), which the Firm partially supplements. After 90 days of employment, employees are auto-enrolled in LTD Insurance and Life- AD&D fully paid by the Firm. Auto-enrollment starting the first of the month following 30 days of employment in LeeSmart's 401K, with company match up to 3% after a continuous 12 months of employment. Employees will also receive 3.13 vacation hours per pay period up to 10 days during their first two years and 2.50 hours of paid sick leave per pay period up to 8 days per pay period, based on a 37.50-hour work week, plus Lee Smart employees enjoy ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. The Firm will provide Supplemental Parental Leave pay for up to 12 weeks to make the employee whole after completing one year of employment. In addition, the Firm offers Five Days of Bereavement Leave
Full-time
Required experience :
One (1) or more years years of full proficiency experience as a Paralegal or three (3) or more years in a similar setting.
