Position Summary:
The Nurse Supervisor will oversee nursing staff and daily clinical operations to ensure high-quality care in the Skilled Nursing Facility. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this role involves coordinating care plans, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in resident care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Initiate resident admission process including order entry and required evaluations.
- Supervise nursing staff assigned.
- Identify and prioritize primary nursing problems.
- Make daily rounds to monitor resident care and status of residents.
- Implement established nursing policies and procedures, educating nursing support staff according to facility guidelines.
- Ensure discharge summary is completed and reviewed with patient/family. Obtain signature and provide copy to patient/family.
- Assign duties to LPNs and nursing assistants, as directed.
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing in resolving grievances with nursing staff, family members, and residents.
- Promote favorable working conditions and relationships with the administration, medical staff, consultants, other departments, residents, family members, volunteers, agencies, and any other individual or group affiliated with the facility.
- Handle and report disciplinary action that requires immediate attention during your tour of duty in the absence of the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and Administrator.
- Review charting on a weekly basis for accuracy and completeness. Document in residents chart pertinent information about significant change in residents condition.
- Maintain a safe working environment, complying with infection control and body mechanic procedures.
- Respond to staffing shortages by arranging for replacement staff.
- Inform Central Supply of any supplies that are needed.
- Other special projects and duties, as assigned.
- Coordinate the discharge process per facility procedure.
- Provide family updates and education when requested.
- Develop baseline care plan and review with patient or representative.
Qualifications:

Educational Requirements and Experience:
- RN Licensed
- One (1) to three (3) years related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Florida Skilled Nursing Facility Regulations
- Knowledgeable about the Dementia disease process and management experience in a Long-Term Care Facility (preferred, but not required)
- CPR/AED Certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Language Ability:
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs.
Cognitive Demands:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows and PCC preferred. Ability to use software to design calendars and signs. Ability to use the Internet.
