What are the responsibilities and job description for the Small Animal Veterinarian position at Lena Veterinary Clinic?
The Tender Loving Care Veterinary Clinic in Freeport, Illinois is looking for a full-time or part-time small animal associate to join our great team. We are a 10 doctor mixed animal private practice with modern, up to date facilities. On average we have 2 technicians available per doctor, so the doctor can focus on practicing medicine. We emphasize high quality medicine and surgery practiced in a relaxed and welcoming environment. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply and we are able to provide mentorship if needed, especially for new graduates. New graduates will be following a doctor for at least the first month to become familiar with staff and clients and ask questions whenever possible. After this, we will there will be a veterinarian working with you until you feel confident.
The Practice: We have two locations located about 20 minutes apart. One location in Lena, Illinois and the other in Freeport, Illinois. We are equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house blood work, laser surgery and cold laser therapy, as well as modern surgical and dental equipment. We are continually upgrading our facilities and are looking to expand our services, so we welcome individuals who can offer new ideas and interests. Our area has potential for significant growth in providing orthopedic services, so and individual proficient in orthopedic surgery has an advantage. Each veterinarian will have excellent veterinary technicians available to assist in all daily procedures.
The Community: Lena and Freeport are in the beautiful rolling “driftless” region of northwest Illinois. There is ample recreating opportunity for the outdoor enthusiast. The cities are safe and the cost of housing and living is low. Freeport is a town of 25,000 people and has the shopping and amenities of a larger city. If you crave bigger city life, we are located about one hour from Madison, Rockford, and Dubuque, and it’s just a two hour drive to downtown Chicago.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for small animal medicine and a positive attitude with the ability to motivate those around them. The candidate will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills. There is opportunity for future ownership if the applicant is interested.

Pay: From $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
