JOB SUMMARY:
Performs bond supervision case management. Work involves providing supervision to defendants on Ancillary Conditions of Bond. Conducts investigations and obtains information for and prepares probation administration documentation for Courts. Works under the direction of the Courts they serve and close supervision of their unit supervisor with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Not later than April 1 of each year, submit an annual report to the commissioners' court and district judges containing information about the personal bond office operations.
Conducts intake interviews on all defendants placed on Ancillary Conditions of Bond.
Explains financial obligations of bond supervision to defendants during intake, and documents their understanding of their financial responsibilities.
Supervises defendants on bond in compliance with the policies and standards established by the Courts and the Director. Informs offenders of information needed for their appointments.
Conducts weekly and/or monthly office visits with defendants as ordered by the Court.
Monitors pending court dates of defendants; contacts DA's Office to determine case status.
Conducts urinalysis on cases as required by the Ancillary Conditions of Bond.
Monitors non-reporting defendants by calling them in for random urinalysis.
Refers defendants requiring special services to appropriate agencies and monitors their progress in those agencies.
Monitors the collection of Court ordered fees and takes appropriate action when an individual is not current.
Prepares investigations, evaluations and recommendations to the Court concerning alleged bond supervision violations.
Appears in Court to provide testimony regarding defendant status and related information as needed.
Prepares Orders Setting Aside Bond when defendants violate conditions of their Court Order.
Contacts the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency and has defendants taken into custody with an active warrant.
Submits termination information to supervisor requesting closure of cases when dispositions have been reached by the Court.
Responsible for the maintenance of case records as required by the Court and the Director. Manages and maintains electronic and hard copy case files.
Keeps current on legal issues and the laws regarding bond supervision; keeps informed on new developments and techniques in the criminal justice field and applies these to the job duties as appropriate.
Carries out programs presently in effect and any other programs which may be established by the Court and the Director.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Court
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience, and Training:
High School graduate.
Case work or case processing experience in the criminal justice or social services field preferred.
Computer operations experience preferred. Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Must maintain a valid Texas license for continued employment in this position.
Must own their vehicle, have proof of current liability insurance and maintain liability insurance.
Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of Criminal Justice Practitioner Training Course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) from the Texas Department of Public Safety within one year of employment.

Must pass a criminal history check and drug test.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the principles of criminology.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of case management.
Knowledge of the psychological concepts of behavior, social adjustment and emotional stability.
Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations and statutes regarding community supervision.
Knowledge of departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules and regulations preferred.
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations and the public.
