LC State invites applications for the position of Retention Specialist
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $47,325 - $49,000
Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience developing and implementing retention strategies, knowledge and experience with academic advising/career counseling, and teaching or tutoring basic study skills.
- Experience with office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience working with first-generation college students or other at-risk students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Bilingual: Spanish & English
- Experience working with migrant or seasonal farm workers and collaborating with migrant seasonal farm work (MSFW) service organizations and campus departments for student referrals
Responsibilities:
- Support CAMP students in completing FASFA.
- Provide academic and study skills.
- Provide access to STEM courses, careers, workshops, internships, and other learning-based experiences.
- Provide personal and academic counseling.
- Provide academic skill-building and tutoring.
- Provide student engagement activities.
- Provide career counseling.
- Provide opportunities for parent engagement.
- Collaborate in monthly, semester, and annual evaluations related to the CAMP grant.
- Support students' persistence and completion of 1ˢᵗ year and 2ⁿᵈ year continuation.
- Monitor students' progress toward degree completion and implement interventions to support retention.
- Utilize Student Access to record students' engagement and progress toward degree completion
- Create student electronic files with all retention efforts and store data in TEAMS and CAMP drives under respective cohorts.
- Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
