Payroll Supervisor Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Finance field and 5 years payroll supervisory experience such as, experience with timekeeping and payroll systems, 500 employees, experience with software conversion to ADP, regular tax preparation, proficient in Microsoft Excel, organized and accurate
General Responsibilities: The Payroll Supervisor will assume responsibility for all aspects of the payroll process and Payroll Associates as well as completion of analyses and projects. This requires communication with various Directors, Supervisors, and other personnel responsible for supplying payroll data.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with, and supervise, Payroll Associates with collecting, summarizing, and entering Payroll timesheet information to generate bi-weekly paychecks. This includes reviewing for appropriate deductions, required withholdings, check preparation and distribution, and employee direct deposit transfer lists.
2. Coordinate with, and supervise, Payroll Associates in preparation of check requests for bi- weekly Payroll withholding liabilities, Payroll transfer information, and federal and state tax transfers.
3. Coordinate with, and supervise, Payroll Associates the distribution of financial information, PTO and FMLA reports, and timesheets.
4. Prepare reports for internal and external purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, workman’s compensation, pension data, audit schedules, life insurance data, quarterly and year end tax reporting, and company directory databases.
5. Complete analyses, reconciliations, and journal entries for General Ledger purposes.
6. Review current procedures and implement new procedures or goals.
7. Regularly attend Payroll seminars and summarizes information for distribution to appropriate personnel.
8. Supervise and/or conduct Payroll timesheet training for employees.
9. Solve complex problems independently.
10. Respond to employee’s Payroll questions and make corrections as necessary.
11. Assist with processing employee new hire information, terminations, and change of status reports as needed.
12. Responsible for W-2, quarterly and year end tax preparation.
13. Act as liaison between employees and pension administration for basic pension issues.
14. Act as liaison for Payroll software changes and upgrades in conjunction with MIS. Display consistent expertise in payroll software applications.
15. Conduct annual performance reviews for Payroll Associates.
16. Ensure a high degree of accuracy in all payroll matters.
