Position Summary: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to emergency and non-emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate medical care to ill or injured patients. The employee is responsible for the safe transportation of patients to and/or from medical facilities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responds to emergency calls, provides basic life support, and administers emergency medical care.
- Responds to non-emergency calls, such as requests to transport patients from hospitals to their homes or from a local medical facility to specialized medical center.
- Operate ambulances, emergency vehicles and equipment safety, efficiently, and in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Company.
- Has a thorough knowledge of the street, highway and addressing system in which he or she will be working.
- Understands all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding emergency medical service.
- Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies.
- Ensures that the ambulance is clean, fully inspected and ready for the next transport.
- Prepares records/reports related to patient transportation and medical care.
- Delivers polite, compassionate care to all patients regardless of the patient's race, age, sex, religion, national origin or ability to pay.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with other emergency service workers, patients, families, hospital and facility staff and other cooperating agencies.
- Demonstrates a through knowledge of safety procedures.
- Performs in a calm, resourceful manner in emergency situations.
- Maintains valid licensures and certifications through continuing education requirements.
- Perform station duties as assigned.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements
Position Qualifications:
Required:
- Emergency Medical Technician certification as defined by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
- Valid NC Driver's License and excellent driving record.
- Ability to cultivate effective working relationship with a broad range of people and follow employees.
- Solid computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
