Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients. You will be responsible for conducting preliminary eye exams, assisting with diagnostic tests, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience in a medical office setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and have a passion for patient care.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception assessments.
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and explaining procedures.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform medical billing and coding tasks accurately to ensure proper insurance claims processing.
- Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and handling patient inquiries.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Provide retail sales support by assisting patients with selecting eyewear and explaining product features.
- Collaborate with the pediatric department to ensure a positive experience for young patients.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or optometry setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and retail math is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Experience working with systems relevant to patient management and electronic health records is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
