What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinery Technician position at Lindskog Balancing?
Lindskog Balancing, a family owned and run business operating successfully since 1959 and specializing in Dynamic Balancing and Vibration Analysisof all types of rotating machinery and components seeks a motivated and self-starting Machinery Technician for our Boxborough, MA headquarters.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and willing to learn and work with the Balancing and Vibration Analysis of Rotating Machinery. Experience is a plus but we are willing to train the right individual.
Essential Functions of the position include but are not limited to:
1. Conduct in-shop and field service work including Vibration Analysis, Dynamic Balancing, Predictive Maintenance, Laser Alignments, and Mechanical Repairs.
2. Apply mechanical skills and knowledge to troubleshoot and repair issues in machinery using observation, vibration analysis, and basic machinist tools.
3. Perform in-shop balancing including loading equipment into balance machines by hand or with lifting aids, configuring the machine to accommodate individual rotating components, and dynamically balancing the parts to tight tolerances by adding or removing weight in specific areas.
4. Utilize digital vibration meters to analyze vibration and balance equipment.
5. Prepare reports to describe mechanical issues and provide recommendations for repair.
6. Assess customer needs and make recommendations over the phone and in-person.
7. Perform other related duties based on business needs.
Requirements:
1. High School diploma, technical/mechanical training a plus.
2. Experience in mechanics / mechanical trouble shooting preferred but not required.
3. Good work ethic and a solid work history.
4. Valid driver’s license, good driving record and the ability to travel to customer sites.
5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb and use ladders and work on knees to test and repair machinery.
6. Excellent hand strength.
7. Ability to stand or crouch for extended periods of time.
8. Proven ability to communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers both on the telephone and in person.
Hours 7am – 3:30pm with possible variation for field work when needed.
Wage: $22.00-$26.00/hour based on experience and excellent benefits package.
