What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solution Architect IV position at Link Technologies?
Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a Solution Architect to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will support several projects in streamlining, modernizing, and improving the internal/external user experience for online services. This role assists enterprise architect activities to guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions, i.e., projects including applications, technologies, processes, and information; shared infrastructure services, and share application services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis, or related study, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of solution architecture experience.
- Demonstrated solution architecture experience; confirmed business outcomes achieved for organizations performing this particular role.
- Proficient in clear and effective verbal and written communication across all levels.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and deliver requested deliverables on time.
- Self-starter with effective problem-solving skills.
- Capable of handling several tasks and/or projects simultaneously and efficiently; easily adapt to changing priorities.
- Well-versed with Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Visio experience is a plus, but not required.
DEMONSTRATE PROFICIENCIES WITH THE FOLLOWING FOUR KEY AREAS:
1. Interpret Business Needs
- Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
- Works closely with the Orion Portfolio Leadership, Project teams, and IT Enterprise Architecture committee to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise solution designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
- Provide input and guidance on individual and team weekly goals, monitor progress through a positive, collaborative and encouraging work environment.
- Example of potential deliverables provided while performing this role: requirements traceability document, business process/capability impact assessment and business process diagrams.
2. Assess Technology
- Assess the current state of implemented services and solutions and identify any deficiencies, like the aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
- Supports product managers in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire services, or systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information.
- Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
- Analyzes the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determines their potential implications for a given solution.
- Analyzes the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement within our Orion Portfolio.
- Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
- Consults with application and infrastructure development projects and products to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify designs to accommodate the solution’s architecture.
- Examples of potential deliverables provided while performing this role: Current state architecture documentation, vendor assessment for RFP, contribution to cost/benefit analysis, contributions to proof-of-concept implementation.
3. Apply Technology
- Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solution’s architecture within our Secretary of State’s Business License Management services or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
- Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application, and system architects that manage and design architecture within our Business License Management services or other State agencies that interface with the Business Licensing services.
- Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise solution portfolio from current to future state, as defined by the requirements of our Orion Portfolio effort.
- Acts as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes.
- Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information.
- Works closely with the Orion Portfolio leadership team to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the Orion program effort.
- Provides consulting support to application architects within Secretary of State’s IT teams to ensure the program is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture for the Secretary of State’s IT operation.
- Examples of potential deliverables provided while performing this role: Solution documentation, enterprise target state architecture and application/platform strategy design documentation.
4. Provide Enterprise Guidance
- Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to support architectural governance to assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and the Secretary of State’s IT environment.
- Supports a Community of Practice (CoP), guiding and helping Orion Program and Project teams to align with the overall enterprise architecture governance and assurance.
- Designs and directs the governance activities associated with ensuring solution’s architecture assurance and compliance.
- Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
- Examples of potential deliverables provided while performing this role: solution scorecard and enterprise reference architecture components.
