Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive payroll experience
- Nice to have:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
- Experience with NetSuite and Paylocity
- International payroll experience in Germany
- Enjoys a fast-growth, dynamic environment

- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a customer-focused approach and ability to work effectively with cross-functional, remote teams
- Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
- Understanding of equity compensation and the payroll tax implications of vesting, exercising, and disposing
- Understanding of US GAAP and experience with booking and reconciling accrued payroll liabilities
- Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize in a dynamic work environment
- Proficiency with payroll and timekeeping systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Oversee payroll for multi-state domestic and international exempt and nonexempt employees, including bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll and employee equity settlements
- Lead and manage day-to-day global payroll activities ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with Liquidia’s policies and local, state, federal, and international tax and relevant labor regulations
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits
- Collaborate closely with the People & Culture team to maintain employee records, manage benefits-related payroll deductions, and perform employee onboarding
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and ensure payroll expense and accrued liabilities are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and are reconciled to underlying support
- Perform monthly variance analysis on compensation expenses and balance sheet accounts and prepare commentary explaining the variances
- Contribute to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including completing reconciliations and escalating and resolving issues
- Understand US federal, state wage and hour laws related to payroll, including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, 401k, HSA, FSA, and taxes
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security in all payroll-related information
- Identify, recommend, and implement best practices in payroll and payroll accounting and streamline payroll operations, systems, and procedures
- Liaise with external payroll service providers ensuring the quality of service, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to service level agreements
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
