As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for participating in, and supervising, the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of Little Friends, Inc. This includes, but is not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and internal / external reporting. You will ensure that Little Friends' finances are in order and comply with legal requirements. You will also provide advice on how to improve accounting processes and financial stability.
Schedule : Monday-Friday 8 : 30 am - 4 : 30 pm

Requirements
Qualifications :
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2. Three years of experience in accounting
3. Experience with spreadsheet, word-processing, and accounting software
a. Blackbaud Financial Edge experience preferred
4. Not-for-profit Experience a plus
Requirements :
1. Must be able to make independent and sound judgments in providing services to all Little Friends customers
2. Communication Skills needed to perform the job :
a. Written : Must be fluent in written English. Grammatical fluency is required to make written corrections
b. Verbal : Must be fluent in spoken English to convey information in an organized and clear manner so that
staff can understand
3. Physical skills needed to perform the job including but not limited to :
a. Must be able to sit and type for at least 90 minutes consecutively
b. Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 15 pounds.
4. Must comport oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on Little Friends, Inc., and the finance
department
a. This includes but is not limited to demonstrating a high commitment to client services and customer
satisfaction of all internal and external customers of Little Friends Inc.
5. Must be aware of, and in compliance with, all policies and procedures as outlined in the Little Friends, Inc

6. Must maintain an elevated level of confidentiality regarding business and personnel issues within Little Friends
Inc.
Specific Responsibilities :
1. Lead the month-end closing process of the General Ledger including :
a. Preparation of journal entries and coordination of timely execution of journal entries prepared by other
members of the finance team
b. Reconciling certain balance sheet accounts
c. Preparing and adjusting journal entries as needed
d. Managing the preparation of monthly financial statements and distributing them to stakeholders including
Program Managers and the CEO
e. Assisting in the preparation of various other reports for the program directors.
2. Coordinate annual financial statement audit, and complete various tasks including but not limited to :
a. Preparing required work papers for the auditor's review
b. Interfacing with audit staff to provide requested information
c. Managing and coordinating the completion of the Balance Sheet account analysis as required by auditors
3. Tracking all capital spending
4. Completion of a monthly Fixed Asset account analysis including :
a. Calculating depreciation and preparation of depreciation journal entry.
5. Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all agency bank accounts
6. Managing the daily cash reporting for the agency including :
a. Monitoring receivables and tracking outstanding checks and obligations that allows the agency to closely
monitor the use of cash
7. Assisting the CFO in the following areas, including but not limited to :
a. Completion of state reports including but not limited to the CFR, CYEFR, Form 990, and other miscellaneous
grants and reports as required.
b. Preparation of monthly analytic reports including Organizational Metrics; and requested financial reporting
from programs
