Construction Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a professional and experienced Construction Payroll Specialist to work in our fast-paced, growing organizations. This position comes with the opportunity for cross-functional training and professional growth. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits that reports directly to the Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete ownership of the full payroll process for m
• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees; input data in an accurate and timely manner.
• Process all direct deposits and all paper checks
• Maintain accurate payroll records for all employees, union and non-union
• Properly disburse payroll taxes and all withholdings
• Monitor and pay accruals for 401k and health insurance
• Pay all weekly and quarterly payroll taxes and reports
• Process monthly new hire reports
• Process all EOY tax reports W-2/W-3, 1099/1096
• Timely processing of multiple union benefit reports; calculate and remit all payments accurately
• Process and submit all payments for wage garnishments, child support, and tax levies
• Maintain vacation, sick, and personal time records
• Process and submit project payroll compliance reports and apprentice certificates in a timely manner
• Prepare all reports and complete all worker’s compensation and union audits
Requirements:
• At least 5 years’ experience in the role of Payroll Specialist or similar accounting position for a construction firm
• Experience in union payroll, union setup in accounting software, and monthly reporting and payments
• Knowledge of laws and regulations of payroll practices and tax and government compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically Excel and Word
• Experience in construction accounting software such as Foundation, Computer Ease, Timberline, or similar programs
Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration (preferred)
• CPP designation preferred
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of people
• Detail oriented with problem solving and analytical skills
• Self-motivated and self-managed
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and projects efficiently to meet deadlines
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• High energy, positive disposition
