Payroll Specialist – Long-Term Contract
Leading global chemical manufacturer seeks an experienced Payroll Specialist who is highly experienced in payroll functions and can immediately contribute to our team at our Geismar plant. This department has strong collaboration where team members work well together yet add value independently. This will be a long-term contract at the plant.
This position requires a highly adept communicator as you will work daily with many departments throughout the plant including department managers and plant personnel on payroll matters. You must be fully capable of making decisions independently on a routine basis without guidance.
Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Position Primary Areas of Responsibility
Payroll Processing:
- Prepare and process biweekly payroll for employees
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Preparation of wire requests and payroll journal entries
Compliance and Reporting:
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports (e.g., W-2, 1099, and quarterly tax filings)
Employee Support:
- Address and resolve payroll inquiries and discrepancies
- Assist employees with timesheet submissions and benefit deductions, verification of employment
- Account receivables
Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records, including changes in pay rates, job titles, or benefits
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and compliance purposes
System Administration:
- Use ADP software to input and validate payroll data
- Identify and implement process improvements in payroll systems and workflows
Position Requirements
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience in payroll administration
- Must be proficiency in payroll software - ADP, SAP, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- High degree of confidentiality and professionalism

Position Salary/Compensation
- $25/hr
- Contractor will be eligible for Lofton Staffing benefits
