Longroad Energy is Hiring a Remote Energy Manager

Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP of Asset Management, the Energy Manager will play a key role at Longroad in managing energy market risk on a growing 3.5 GW operating base, analyzing the performance of wind, solar and battery storage assets and overseeing execution of obligations under a range of energy agreements. The role will have a strong and close relationship with the asset management and operations teams as well as interact directly with the development and finance teams. This role will oversee Longroad’s energy bidding strategy and monitor real-time results to determine how market conditions are impacting project financial results. The Energy Manager will help optimize operational and financial performance of the Longroad fleet through the development and execution of energy management strategies discussed with and approved by the Company’s senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily monitoring of scheduling results and market conditions to ensure that operational and financial targets are being met
  • Analyze results of each wind, solar and battery storage energy marketing strategy and make recommendations to best balance risk and potential reward
  • Present to senior leadership as required to explain current market conditions and key drivers of results related to bidding strategy, congestion, and market pricing
  • Oversee Longroad’s settlement process ensuring timely, accurate completion, and full compliance with revenue agreements
  • Oversee Renewable Energy Credit (“REC”) accounting and provide reporting and analysis on REC position of each project
  • Support preparation of bids into REC and power purchase agreement RFPs
  • Assist with Forward Capacity Management strategy and bid process
  • Assist with required ISO and regulatory filings/reporting, including asset registration process for new assets
  • Take initiative to improve scheduling and settlements process by identifying innovative ways to use technology or other resources

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of energy market trading, scheduling, energy markets analysis, risk management or similar experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Self-starter capable of taking initiative to solve problems and identify opportunities with minimal supervision
  • Must be highly accountable for results and willing to work hours necessary to ensure achievement of targets
  • Less than 25% of occasional travel required

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive power market experience and familiarity with multiple US power markets, (ERCOT and CAISO experience is desirable)
  • Experience with range of renewable energy offtake agreements including hedges, power purchase agreements, virtual power purchase agreements, etc.
  • REC market experience
