Longroad Energy is Hiring a Remote Regulatory Compliance Manager

Job Purpose

Reporting to Vice President, Legal, the Regulatory Compliance Manager will oversee Longroad’s FERC, NERC, and ISO compliance program, as well as other regulatory compliance issues for a growing 3.5 GW wind and solar and storage portfolio. Longroad currently manages utility-scale wind and solar assets across a range of NERC Regional Entities including NPCC, TRE, WECC, RF and MRO and Independent System Operators including ISO-NE, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, and PJM. In the next 5 years, Longroad expects to add an additional 5 GW of wind, solar and storage assets to the operating fleet. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will work closely with the asset management, operations, and legal teams as well as key third party compliance experts to ensure all compliance obligations are met. This role will manage Longroad’s current compliance program while building systems and processes for the future.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and oversight of asset management and operations teams to ensure that all FERC, NERC and ISO compliance tasks are understood, tracked and completed within Longroad’s compliance management system
  • Provide training to asset management, operations, and remote monitoring personnel on regulatory requirements on recurring basis
  • Own relationships with outside counsel and third party compliance partners where subject matter expertise is required to maintain compliance with applicable requirements
  • Prepare annual regulatory filings, certifications and reports and ensure that compliance deadlines are met
  • Manage NERC audits, self-certifications, spot checks, and data request responses
  • Report to executive team regarding compliance status of all operating assets, potential risks and ongoing efforts to improve the compliance program
  • Partner with both development and operations teams to maintain full lifecycle ownership of asset compliance specific to FERC, NERC and ISO requirements
  • In coordination with development and construction team, complete initial project compliance program build for in-development projects to prepare for commercial operation
  • Lead implementation of new compliance requirements and serve as project manager where complex compliance requirements are implemented
  • Maintain current knowledge of requirements and stay connected with relevant industry groups to flag new regulatory requirements and recommend appropriate actions by internal stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 5 years of experience in compliance position specifically focused on power generating assets
  • Comprehensive understanding and extensive experience with NERC reliability standards
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Strong verbal and writing skills, technical and non-technical
  • Self-starter capable of taking initiative to solve problems and identify opportunities with minimal supervision
  • Must be highly accountable for results
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work across multiple teams and stakeholders to complete tasks
  • Less than 25% of occasional travel required

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct renewable energy compliance experience on both development and operating wind and solar projects
  • Wide range of ISO experience (CAISO and ERCOT preferred)
  • Experience with standard FERC reporting related to renewable energy projects
  • Ability to quickly identify and adapt to changing priorities
