Job Summary
The REP Funding/ Fiscal Management Specialist is responsible for reviewing supporting documents, financial assessment, general business viability, making recommendations for funding, managing financial operations and providing fiscal oversight for external clients. Their duties will encompass evaluating and analyzing loan applications to determine the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, record-keeping, financial reporting and analysis, as well as ensuring compliance. The ultimate goal is to provide clients with access to flexible capital to start and grow their businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with systems and tools created by the Managing Director with the expectation that the Specialist will provide meaningful feedback on the effectiveness of the tools and the potential need for additional/different solutions to achieve superior results
- Knowledge of current and new funding products as well as eligibility, product criteria and terms.
- Review all supporting documents including application proposals, business plans, Invoices, cost estimates, use of funds etc.
- Understand aspects of loan underwriting including but not limited to assessing credit risk by reviewing the applicant's credit history, bank statements, financial records, the value of any security or collateral (like personal assets), the size and viability of the business, revenue streams and past or projected financial performance.
- Packaging documents for review by the managing director and presentation to the decision-making committee including funding recommendation and preparing clients for the committee.
- Creating any final closing or disbursement documents and coordinating with the Funding Coordinator for closing.
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of fiscal clients.
- Assist with the development of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Assist with the development of regular financial reports to the clients.
- Collaborate with program directors to create annual budgets and financial plans.
- Monitor budget performance and provide insights to help manage expenditures and optimize resources.
- Provide consultation for the development of accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing
- Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
- Assist with the development of an internal control structure that assures compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Conduct financial analysis to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Provide recommendations for improving financial efficiency and sustainability.
- Assist with preparation for internal and external audits by providing the necessary documentation and information to auditors.
- Provide Consultation related to the month-end closing process and the compilation of required documents and reports.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
- Assist the Finance and Accounting team with various initiatives and enhance process efficiency.
- Work in conjunction with other departments to guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, and comprehensiveness of financial data.
- Clearly conveying financial details to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and engage in projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable functions.
- Assist at events sponsored by the organization, which may occur outside of regular working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To be successful the incumbent should, at a minimum, possess skills, knowledge or abilities in the following:
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP Accounting and Accounting Guidelines related to Federal, State, and local grants.
- Proven organizational and supervisory skills in finance and administration.
- Knowledgeable of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and payroll processing.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work alone and complete large tasks in specified time periods.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
- Must be detailed and results-oriented.
- Proficient in Google products (Docs, Calendar, Drive).
- Team-oriented and can think strategically with other staff.
- Must be highly motivated, goal-oriented, and bilingual is a plus.
- Punctuality is a must and willing to work as needed.
- Ability to work some nights/weekends.
- Willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local law/regulations.
- Valid driver’s license required and willing to use personal automobile.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
- Three to five years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in underwriting or a related financial position
- Auditing skills or accounting experience gained at an accounting firm may serve as a substitute for the required experience.
Work Environment
In this position, theworkweek is Monday through Friday with evenings and weekends. The incumbent should expect to spend time in a comfortable, indoor office environment. Much of the incumbent’s time will be spent at a computer using Google Suite Software, Zoom, and on the phone. Some local and statewide travel is common in order to meet with strategic partners and potential customers. As such, a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation is required. Reimbursable mileage, does not include commuting to and from work.
