Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Billing Operations Manager and is a part of the billing team. The role includes some tasks associated with the billing clerks’ position, including registering and scheduling clients and performing pre-billing duties. This individual will focus on accurately billing for services provided by Lowell House programs and personnel in a timely manner. Each staff is assigned to a number of Lowell House programs, and that individual completes pre-billing activities and checks so that Lowell House is able to collect revenue from the appropriate party.

Responsibilities:

1. Data entry and invoicing in Virtual Gateway

2. Data entry, report running, and auditing files in the agency’s electronic health

record (EHR)

3. Completing all pre-billing tasks and following up with program personnel to

submit timely billing

4. Working closely with the Lowell House financial and compliance personnel as

well as the agency’s outsource billing team

5. Completing registration and verification processes for new and current clients

6. Initial set-up in Lowell House’s Electronic Health Record

7. Performing insurance eligibility and authorization checks

8. Answering incoming client and stakeholder calls

9. Responding to walk-in visits

10. Ensuring client and client payment information is entered into Lowell House

systems

11. Working closely with the billing team and other administrative staff

12. Performing weekly reports for all Lowell House programs

13. Other duties as assigned

Required education and experience

Minimum of 1 year experience medical and insurance billing or related role

BA in a business or business-related field preferred, though additional experience can be substituted

This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.
