Job Overview:
As a Bartender at Palm House, you will be an integral part of our world-class hospitality team, responsible for creating exceptional and unforgettable guest experiences through expertly crafted cocktails and impeccable service. Your mastery of mixology, combined with your knowledge of beverages, will elevate the guest experience and contribute to the sophisticated ambiance of Palm House. You will work within a high-energy environment, serving a discerning clientele, and playing a key role in maintaining the hotel’s exceptional standards of service and luxury.
Key Responsibilities:
Beverage Preparation and Service:
- Craft and serve a wide range of signature cocktails, premium wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring the highest quality and consistency with every order.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of cocktail ingredients, presentation techniques, and flavor profiles to create innovative and bespoke drinks for our guests.
- Maintain a sophisticated bar atmosphere by providing attentive, personalized service, engaging guests, and recommending drinks based on preferences and trends.
Guest Interaction:
- Provide exceptional service to all guests at the bar, poolside, or at private events, ensuring every guest’s experience is memorable and exceeds their expectations.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner, addressing any special requests or dietary restrictions and offering tailored drink recommendations.
- Handle guest concerns with grace and professionalism, ensuring that any issues are resolved to the guest's satisfaction.
Bar Management and Organization:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area, ensuring all tools, glassware, and ingredients are readily available.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of beverages, ensuring the bar is always fully equipped and operational.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all bar inventory, including alcohol, mixers, and garnishes, in accordance with health and safety standards.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Assist with the management of bar inventory, ensuring that supplies are ordered and stocked in a timely manner.
- Control and minimize waste, optimize inventory use, and ensure cost-effective beverage preparation.
- Keep track of daily drink sales, assist with reconciling cash and credit transactions, and follow company protocols for payment handling.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
- Follow all legal and company requirements for the responsible service of alcohol, ensuring that all guests are served in a safe and responsible manner.
Customer Satisfaction and Brand Representation:
- Provide guests with personalized service, ensuring that all guests feel welcome, comfortable, and valued.
- Represent Palm House’s commitment to excellence by upholding the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and guest service at all times.
Event and Special Function Support:
- Assist with bar operations for private events, banquets, and special functions, ensuring smooth service and high-quality beverage offerings.
- Work closely with the event planning and catering teams to ensure that bar service meets the specific needs of each event and reflects the sophistication of Palm House.
Continual Learning and Creativity:
- Stay informed of the latest trends in mixology, including new cocktail recipes, beverage techniques, and seasonal ingredients.
- Continuously innovate and suggest new cocktail offerings that reflect both guest preferences and the evolving trends of the beverage industry.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a bartender in a luxury hotel, upscale restaurant, or high-end hospitality setting.
- Extensive knowledge of mixology, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with the ability to maintain composure and provide exceptional service under stress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
- Certification in Responsible Alcohol Service (e.g., TIPS or equivalent) is highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, presentation, and service techniques.
- Ability to interact with a diverse clientele and provide personalized service to enhance guest experiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor while working under pressure.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the business.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the bar area for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more during busy shifts).
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including kegs, boxes of liquor, and bar supplies.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist in order to access inventory, prepare drinks, and interact with guests.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, maintaining focus and attention to detail during peak service hours.
- Must have the physical stamina to work long shifts, especially during high-traffic events, banquets, and special occasions.
