This role involves estimating and managing project costs from conception through completion, with a focus on ground-up construction and specialized interior buildouts. Position Summary
As a Senior Estimator, you will analyze project requirements, prepare detailed cost estimates, and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure comprehensive project coverage. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to mentor junior team members. Familiarity with both ground-up and interior construction is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project specifications, plans, and scope.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates and prepare detailed take-offs for project pricing.
- Coordinate with and negotiate subcontractor agreements to cover full scope needs.
- Maintain a cost database, monitor market trends, and refine labor and material pricing.
- Lead preconstruction efforts, including proposal and value engineering processes.
- Engage clients to tailor projects within budget constraints.
- Mentor Junior Estimators, enhancing team expertise and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, and the Operations team.
- Document project requirements for seamless handover to Operations.
- Ensure alignment with company policies, processes, and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Senior Estimator in commercial construction, specifically with a general contractor.
- Expertise in retail interior construction and ground-up commercial builds.
- Strong industry knowledge, including construction trends, materials, and designs.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with Bluebeam and other estimating software.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications accurately.
- High school diploma required; associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
