Position Specifics
The Service Technician provides on-site technical assistance to both Domestic and International Customers. Trouble-shoot and repair existing equipment problems and guide new equipment customers through the equipment installation, start-up, and commissioning processes.
Essential Duties and Requirements
Install and service Lummus cotton ginning, cottonseed processing, and man-made fiber processing machinery at customer sites, on a worldwide basis.
Represent Lummus as a Field Service Expert capable of handling all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and PLC controls issues with equipment.
Provide hands-on technical assistance and one-on-one technical training to customers as necessary.
Timely prepare Field Reports describing problems found and corrective actions taken.
Maintain communications between the Customers, the Sales & Marketing Departments, and the Technical Service Department to better serve the needs of our customers and the interests of the company.
Maintain proper repair and machinery safety standards at all times.
Report unsafe utilization of Lummus equipment to customers and Lummus Corp.
Assist engineering, quality control, and product development in special projects as needed – to speed up product development cycle and to solve problems in existing product lines.
Obtain field measurements for proposal drawings.
Assist in managing “turn-key” projects.
Qualify and supervise subcontractors and vendors.
Obtain bids from subcontractors as necessary.
Establish schedules for installation and construction work.
Check the progress of subcontractors’ work for quality and timeliness.

Willing to travel up to 50% - 75% during cotton ginning season
Requirements
Minimum of Associate’s Degree in a mechanical or electrical technology.
Must be familiar with and have the ability to manipulate hand and power tools.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
Good interpersonal skills with customers and Lummus team members.
Willingness to travel both domestic and internationally.
