JOB SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), depending on the clinic structure, may perform administrative tasks such as answering the phones, completing paperwork, and scheduling appointments in addition to assisting in clinical duties such as taking/recording a patient’s history, preparing patients for treatment; and taking a patient’s vital signs (blood pressure and temperature) prior to treatment. They assist the delivery of quality medical care in accordance with a provider’s orders. They also act as a liaison between the patient and the provider and maximize the provider’s time with the patient.
MINIMAL ACCEPTABLE JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education: N/A
Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or Associates Degree or Clinical
Training through Accredited Healthcare Technical Institute/School for
CMA/RMA/CCMA
Required Experience: N/A
Preferred Experience: 1 (one) Year Experience in CMA/RMA/CCMA role or Externship at Accredited MA Program in a physician’s office; prefer physician office/clinic experience
Required License/Registration/Certification: Certification from Accredited MA Program (CMA/RMA/CCMA)
Certification must be obtained (CMA/RMA/CCMA) within 90 days of employment
BLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred License/Registration/Certification: N/A
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Computer Skills Strongly Preferred
Google Suite including Gmail, GDrive, GSheets, GCalendar, etc.
Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio
Kronos, Athena, and the ability to learn multiple new systems being used in the organization to
perform daily operational activities
Working Conditions:
Work performed in a clinic office setting.
Requires constant hearing, speaking, vision and repetitive hand movement.
Requires impeccable time management skills and attention to detail despite frequent interruptions.
Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written with patients, their
families, and other healthcare providers.
