Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a full time Family Support Specialist for its Family Centered Services program in the Scott County area. The Family Support Specialist position provides a unique opportunity to directly and positively impact the safety and health of families in your community.
DUTIES
The Family Support Specialist (FSS) provides direct service to assigned clients to promote child and family safety, permanency, strengthening of the family unit, and reunification of children and families. The FSS is responsible for family support, crisis management and case coordination through the use of assessments, development of treatment plans, and evaluation of family progress. Facilitate and monitor supervised family interactions and provide transportation as needed. Travel is required as families are seen in their homes, an office or another community setting. Activities may occur during normal business hours, after hours, or on weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: Associates in arts degree with two years of full-time experience in human services or a related field in combination with qualifying Associates degree. OR a Bachelors degree in any major of study.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in social work, sociology, psychology, human services, criminal justice, counseling, family therapy, family services, family studies, child & family services, human relations, chemical dependency counselor, nursing, special education, elementary education, secondary education, law enforcement administration, or political science. One year of full-time experience in human services or a related field. Current certification in Solution Based Casework is a plus.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
