Summary: To provide clerical support services to staff attorneys and investigators in the Office of Public Defender.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Handle confidential matters relating to the Office of Public Defender. Maintain a variety of office files and records including client files on pending criminal and juvenile delinquency cases and record case data, including inputting in the Office of Public Defender case management system. Send out notices of client trial dates using case management system. Create motions, orders and many other legal documents that may be needed. May be asked to type letters or briefs for assigned attorneys. Answers the telephone and provides information to Office of Public Defender staff, judges, law enforcement, clients and the general public which may require an understanding of criminal and juvenile delinquency proceedings. Take messages for attorneys. Copy court files and fax documents. Obtain information utilizing the Office of Public Defender computer terminals.Other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
