What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Engineer II position at M. B. Kahn Construction Co., Inc.?
Primary Function: Responsible for construction layout that is accurate and progresses per contract and scheduling requirements. Lead the project engineering by providing line and grade to jobsite crews in performance of their work.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications and details from Architect/Engineer and can communicate these to others.
- Ability to identify layout and elevation problems that could delay construction and implement resolutions as directed.
- Directs and takes responsibility for layout.
- Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
- Prepares RFI’s related to field engineering work.
- Assists with constructability reviews.
- Develops, implements and administers project engineering procedures and other work documents.
- Directs craft personnel and subcontractors on layout of work.
- Works with the project team to support, coordinate, and record all required 3rd party special testing and inspections.
- Work proactively as directed by the Superintendent to provide required survey information to subcontractors.
- Maintains as-built record documents.
- Assists with motivating field personnel in all efforts for safety, quality control, schedule adherence, and goals or objectives associated with the project.
- Assists in project close-out activities.
- Maintains assigned company assets including but not limited to total stations, levels and transits.
- Complies with M. B. Kahn’s Safety Program, OSHA guidelines, and Company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Promotes integrity, honesty, hard work, safety, and quality throughout all aspects of the project and is a professional representative of M. B. Kahn.
- Performs additional assignments as directed by management or as required for successful project completion.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in all aspects of Field Engineer I.
- Understands geometric and mathematical concepts.
- Understands advanced survey and layout.
- Understands use of project management software or similar software.
