What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aviation Painter position at MAAS Aviation?
In General
The Aviation Painter is responsible for the direct hands-on labor necessary to complete the aircraft painting process to company and customer specifications.
Essential Duties:
The Aviation Painter is directly responsible for the following essential duties:
- Compliance of all health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and processes, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Cleaning and preparing the operational areas of the site for aircraft painting activities.
- Staging the aircraft for the aircraft painting activities prior to the commencement of the aircraft painting process.
- Masking activities to protect the “nottopaint” areas of the aircraft.
- Prepaint preparation of the “topaint” areas of the aircraft, including but not limited to cleaning, paint removal and sanding and abrading as may be required by process.
- Positioning of stencils and other production aids which facilitate the aircraft painting in accordance with customer specifications.
- Mixing paints.
- Painting with electrostatic and HVLP equipment.
- Reads and interprets aircraft paint drawings and follows them accurately to accomplish paint job and ensures regulatory, emergency, and other customer placards are correct.
- Reads instructions and all cautions/warnings/notes information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
- Installing mandatory and technical marking to the aircraft by paint or sticker decals as required.
- Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and other painting equipment.
- Additional and secondary duties supporting aircraft painting activities, such as cleaning technical areas, organizing production materials, etc. may be assigned from time to time.
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift, crawl, kneel, bend and rotate without restrictions.
- Ability to walk / stand and climb stairs for majority of shift
- Able to climb and walkup industrial scaffolding in multiple sections.
- Must be able to wear respirator and other required PPE during shift.
- Must be able to move around the office and plant throughout the day and reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch occasionally.
- Must be able to use fingers, hands, writs to grab and hold heavy equipment.
- Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps.
- Ability to see clearly with or without lenses.
- Ability to hear clearly with or without aids.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Able to operate manlift, scissor lift and forklifts.
Working Conditions:
- Climate Controlled Aircraft Hangar.
- Exposure to loud noise.
- Exposure to chemicals (proper PPE and training provided).
- Able to work safely at heights and/or confined spaces.
- Fast paced environment.
