Machine Specialties, Inc. (MSI) is a leading contract machining and metal finishing specialist that designs and manufactures sophisticated, cost-effective solutions to meet our clients’ most demanding challenges. Our company is located in Whitsett, NC, just outside of Greensboro, NC.
We are currently seeking another Deburr Technician to add to our team. This position is responsible for removing sharp edges, burrs, and imperfections from machined parts using various tools and techniques such as grinding, sanding, or filing. They ensure the finished product meets quality standards and specifications per customer requirements. Additionally, they perform visual inspections and maintain equipment.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position that reports to the Deburr Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizing hand tools to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined parts.
- Inspecting parts before and after deburring to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Performing surface finishing tasks such as grinding, sanding, or polishing to achieve desired surface textures or finishes.
- Adhering to safety protocols and procedures when handling tools and parts.
- Performing routine maintenance on deburring equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Maintaining accurate records of parts processed, inspections performed, and any issues encountered during the deburring process.
- Communicating with other team members, including machinists and quality control personnel, to coordinate workflow and address any issues related to part quality or production efficiency.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and suggesting solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the deburring department.
Key Skills Needed:
- Ability to effectively use hand tools such as files, sandpaper, deburring knives, and brushes to remove burrs and imperfections from machined parts.
- Competence in operating deburring machinery such as grinders, sanders, tumblers, or vibratory finishers to achieve desired results efficiently.
- Keen eye for detail to identify and remove even minor imperfections from parts, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures when working with machinery, chemicals, and sharp objects to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues related to part quality, equipment malfunctions, or process inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
Required Training/Education/Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Experience: 2-5 years deburring experience, preferably in an Aerospace Manufacturing company.
