The Quality Technican is responsible for the sampling and testing of a non-woven production line, helping to ensure a quality product, maintaining a safe work environment and achieving desired key performance measurements.
Responsibilities
- Makes subjective determinations based on visual appearance of materials.
- Performs required testing and reviews testing results and determines compliance to specification limits and retest limits. Reports results ensuring that production is aware of any out of limit conditions.
- Assists with the collection and preparation of micro test samples.
- Tests and determines usability of raw materials. Releases raw material.
- Assists with trial runs including interface with Production, Process Engineering, Product Development and Sales/Marketing.
- Maintains records and charts using statistical techniques for analysis.
- Using computer input database, manipulates data is required for most parameters using MS office software.
- Monitors and calibrates all testing equipment to ensure all parameters are set to required settings. Troubleshoots any non-compliances.
- Trains fellow team members on testing equipment and procedures.
- Maintains housekeeping expectations. Conducts housekeeping audits and reports findings.
- Achieves key performance measures, safety and quality.
- Participates on Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement teams.
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner. Complies with all safety rules.
- Participates as backup to shift technician and microbiologist.
- Hours are M-F 7a-3p, and may be asked to worked overtime to ensure adepquate QT coverage.
- Performs any other duties as required by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with some college or advanced experience or training preferred
- Two or more years of laboratory experience or six months working in a nonwoven manufacturing environment.
- Excellent computer skills with high competency in MS Office
- Knowledge of SAP, APS, WMS preferred
