What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Assistant (RA) position at Magnolia Place Assisted Living?
The Resident Assistant provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living that they may not be able to perform without help, fostering residents' independence and freedom of choice. The RA may provide assistance with the telephone, housekeeping tasks, laundry, mail delivery, etc. The RA also responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
One year of personal care experience is preferred. Previous experience working with seniors is preferred and excellent customer service is a must.
The Resident Assistant is responsible for:
- Treats residents with dignity, respect, gentleness and kindness. Demonstrate and appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
- Supports and respects the resident’s unique diversity, including spiritual and cultural beliefs.
- Is familiar with residents’ daily needs, likes, and dislikes in order to provide personalized care
- Provides assistance with all activities of daily living.
- Takes and records all vitals as required.
- Completes documentation in an accurate, complete and timely manner per organizational standards using electronic medical record.
- Observes and reports the resident’s’ condition or changes to immediate supervisor.
- Assists with cleaning throughout the department in order to provide a clean, safe and accessible environment.
- Assists with admissions, transfers and discharge of residents.
- Assists in the dining room and contributes to a pleasurable dining experience for the residents.
- Communicates and assists residents to life enrichment programming.

Job Type: Part-time
Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills, maturity, good judgment and ability to handle confidential information. Responsible for all aspects of resident care as well as routine maintenance of the residence. High school diploma/GED and driver's license required. Must be physically able to assist participants with lifting.
