What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tri-Axle Dump Truck Driver position at MAGO Construction Company, LLC?
POSITION SUMMARY: Transporting hot mix asphalt, crushed rock, sand, milled asphalt, and other related materials to and from specified locations. Operates truck in safe and professional manner at all times on public highways, roads, in the yard area, and at jobsites delivering materials.
QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Two to five years of dump truck or related experience is required for this position. Experience hauling hot mix asphalt is a plus. Must have an active/in force Class A or B license.
SKILL SETS: Exceptional observation skills. Effective communication skills and sound knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Requires climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, stretching, sitting/driving, shifting gears when applicable. May require sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and up to 150 pounds with assistance. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus. Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of construction sites, including the activities of other employees and contractors, stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. Employee must be able to climb in and out of truck safely. Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions. Work environment periodically exposes employees to levels of noise, grease, and dust typically associated with a construction project. Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites or in an equipment shop such as form oil, grease, gasoline, diesel fuel, and asphalt.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Drives dump truck to transport materials to and from construction projects. Load and unload materials.
- Performs daily pre/post trip inspections on vehicle with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT and Company guidelines. Responsible for notifying supervisor immediately if vehicle needs repairs.
- Thorough operational knowledge and skill of trucks to be operated. Familiar with DOT regulations.
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
- Ensures that materials are loaded correctly onto the dump truck.
- Keeps accurate log of hauls and completes required paperwork including fuel reports.
- Obeys applicable laws. Follows dispatch instructions.
- Must keep vehicle in a clean and orderly condition and operate in a safe manner at all times.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently.
- Other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

- Commercial Class A or B drivers’ license required and maintained with a driving record within MVR policy guidelines.
- Must pass DOT physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
- Attends mandatory in-service and other training/educational programs as required.
