Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Responsibilities
- Code invoices accurately to the correct general ledger accounts and ensure proper entry into accounting software.
- Review invoices against purchase orders and receivers for errors, discrepancies, and accuracy in procedures.
- Audit invoices for procedural accuracy and catch any discrepancies.
- Maintain AP aging reports by period and manage open invoices.
- Run and analyze open payable reports.
- Enter and maintain accurate vendor information in the master file, including subcontractor documents and vendor compliance.
- Utilize Excel for 1099, sales tax reporting, vendor aging, and tracking invoice details.
- Identify, research, and resolve invoice discrepancies, collaborating with district offices, vendors, and other departments to resolve issues promptly.
- Train district offices on software usage, ensuring they understand invoice processing and reporting tools.
- Select invoices for payment, manage check runs, and post invoice batches.
- Complete various AP-related projects as directed by the Corporate AP Manager
Qualifications:
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Must be detail-oriented with a strong ability to catch errors and resolve discrepancies.
- Demonstrated experience with accounting and AP software; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Intermediate Excel skills required, with experience in 1099, sales tax reports, and maintaining AP aging reports.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional interaction with vendors and colleagues.
