We are currently seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Full Time Therapeutic Recreation Director
Position Requirements:
Minimum of Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation or active enrollment in TR program is required. Degree preferred.
Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays required.
Self-motivated
Has knowledge of and documents resident participation and progress for both long term residents and short-term rehab patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans, organizes, and directs a recreational service programs designed to motivate, stimulate, restore abilities, and improve the quality of life for all residents.
- Oversees, schedules, and recruits’ volunteers.
- Assists with facility marketing efforts, developing programs which take residents into the community, bring the public to the facility, and establish an excellent rapport with local groups and the media.
- Purchases appropriate supplies for the department in accordance with departmental budget, processes, and procedures.
- Works with residents at bedside with specially designed activities and assists with the transportation of residents to areas where programs are being conducted.
- Assists with the documentation of resident participation / progress; supervises residents during outings.
- Conducts assessments with new admissions to document historical interests, hobbies, and abilities as well as current limitations, prognosis, and family/resident expectations.
- Completes Therapeutic Recreation portion of MDS.
- Designs, publishes, and implements a varied and rich schedule of activities including large group, small group, one-to-one and specialized programs.
- Implements required programs, maintains thorough records, and achieves individual and facility progress with activities of daily living and other restorative programs.
- Manage resident / patient surveys.
- Administer Resident Trust account: complying with state/federal regulations and policy and procedures.
