What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sleep Technologist in Training position at Mankato Clinic?
Part time to full time 60-80 hours a pay period.
The Sleep Technologist training program is designed to provide a paid training opportunity to learn and receive 960 hours of on-the-job training during overnight hours. The trainee will go through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) Pathway 2 to learn the information and skills required to take and successfully pass the RPSGT exam. At the successful completion of the exam, the trainee will become a RPSGT and will transfer to the day tech position at the Sleep Center.
The Sleep Technologist trainee works under the general supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and Medical Director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. Once Registered, the Sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director.
Hours of Training : Training hours are generally between the hours of 7 : 45p.m.-7 : 45a.m. Monday-Thursday alternating with day hours. Variations from these hours may be made based on the needs of the training.
Day Tech : Working hours are generally weekdays between the hours of 5 : 30a.m.- 4 : 30p.m Tuesday-Friday. Variations from these hours may be made based on the needs of the department to cover the normal operating / business hours of the Sleep Center.
Education Required :
Formal training will be indicated by a graduation degree or diploma from an accredited Practical Nursing Program (Program for Preparation to become an LPN), Respiratory Care (RRT, CRT), Electroneurodiagnostic (EEG); current State licensure; Current BLS certification required or obtained within 90 days of start date. Ability to utilize computer for daily work. Clinical experience needs to be within a 3-year period prior to the RPSGT exam.

Base Pay Range : $21.80-$31.60, initial pay based on relevant work experience.
