Summary : The Environmental Services Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the community’s physical plant. S (he) oversees the general operations of maintenance and housekeeping to ensure that the community and resident apartments are maintained in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner. S (he) assumes responsibility for the overall cleanliness, sanitation, safety and organization of the physical plant of the facility. As a Department Head in the community, the Environmental Services Director is also responsible for communication and coordination with maintenance and housekeeping staff including the direct oversight of recruiting, hiring, scheduling, coaching and counseling, and monitoring of performance.
Key Responsibilities :
Recruits, hires, and supervises staff in maintenance and housekeeping.
Performs general maintenance work (light, electrical, painting, carpentry, etc.).
Aware and knowledgeable of the federal and state laws and regulations regarding assisted living / memory care,
including the state’s fire safety code; ensures and maintains regulatory compliance with all such regulations.
Consistently and routinely maintains and repairs equipment and documents any hazardous conditions.
Education / Experience / Licensure / Certification :
Must possess a High School Diploma or greater.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance plant related
position, in building industry and / or housekeeping handling the upkeep, repair and maintenance of electrical,
plumbing and structural matters, including HVAC systems.
Must be knowledgeable as to maintenance & housekeeping practices and procedures, as well as the laws,
regulations and guidelines governing maintenance functions in the community.
Demonstrate competency in the performance of duties and responsibilities through the utilization of sound
judgment and the reporting of unusual problems / conditions to the Executive Director.
