About the Position

As the Volunteer Coordinator at MCACC, you will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of volunteers to support all areas of our operations. The Volunteer Coordinator will assign volunteers to work areas and ensure all volunteers understand the reporting structure and have the support they need to be successful.

We Require
- One year of experience in coordinating community programs and/or operations
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, communications, marketing, or a closely related field
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- One year of experience in animal sheltering
- Familiarity with Volgistics, Trello, Chameleon, and similar tracking and reporting software
Job Contributions
- Develop and refine the volunteer program for Animal Care & Control
- Develop and administer a volunteer recognition program
- Assist as needed with off-site events related to either the recruitment of volunteers or the use of volunteers in large numbers
- Communicate with volunteers via phone, e-mail, newsletter, etc.
- Recommend revisions to volunteer policies, create and update volunteer job descriptions and training protocols
- Update the volunteer database and generate reports detailing volunteer
- Meet with division managers to determine volunteer needs, coordinate assignments, and address problems
- Visit off-site locations to recruit volunteers and work to develop corporate volunteer opportunities
Working Conditions
- Animal shelter environment with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, dogs and cats with unknown temperaments and behaviors, excessive noise, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases
- Candidate may exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree
- Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
- Travel may be required to and from other MCACC locations subject to County Vehicle policies
- Must be flexible to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license
