What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wraparound Parent Partner position at Maryvale?
JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Parent Partner is to provide active, hands-on “peer” support to parents and caregivers of children and youth who are receiving services through the Wraparound program. The Parent Partner is responsible for providing support and guidance to the parents and caregivers and serves as a liaison for parent involvement. Services are provided directly in the community, within a family’s home setting and/or at our agency location in Duarte.
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:
- Flexible hours dependent upon client needs and caseload.
- Schedule will vary day to day, and may include evenings and weekends hours.
- Availability 24/7 for crisis intervention as needed by the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have personal life experience as a parent or caregiver of at-risk child(ren) including involvement either with DCFS, Department of Probation, School/IEP, and or mental health services.
- Bi-Lingual Spanish preferred, but not required.
- High School Diploma, General Equivalency Degree or higher.
- Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
- Experience working with families/children involved with the juvenile justice system, dependency court system or child welfare system.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to relate to a culturally diverse clientele and professional colleagues.
- Pre-employment physical exam and criminal and OIG background clearance.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Required to drive a motor vehicle and provide proof of motor vehicle insurance. Must maintain valid motor insurance throughout duration of employment. Will need to utilize own vehicle and or agency vehicle in accordance with the agency and program’s policy/procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Experience in utilizing an electronic health record system a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with Windows operations system, MS WORD, EXCEL, email, etc.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.

- Utilize Trauma Informed Care approach in recognizing the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role that trauma has played in the lives of the clients/residents.
- Assist in the healing process by developing appropriate RICH® (Respect, Information, Connection and Hope) relationships with those served.
- Follow Universal Precautions when exposed to blood and body fluids.
- Follow Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations pertaining to safety and the use of equipment/machinery.
- Support Maryvale’s Performance and Quality Improvement Plan and participate in discussion regarding department or program goals, data collection and/or analysis.
- Provides support to caregivers as they learn and practice needed social skills in the home and community per the client’s care plan.
- Provide and coordinate services to families that maintain and strengthen the relationship between client and family.
- Mentor families in communication skills, anger management, problem solving, stress management, appropriate discipline, self-care, and other life skills.
- Work with the Child and Family Team to individualize and update the Service Plan.
- Attends Child and Family Team Meetings and other program related, client related meetings as assigned.
- Utilizing interventions in the field while working with caregivers, providing services as outlined in the care plan as assigned by the Wraparound Child and Family Team.
- Assist families in contacting specific services and utilizing community resources as identified in the care plan.
- Maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with the Child and Family Team members to provide maximum support to the family.
- Participating in all needed appointments for the clients and families (school, DCFS, DMH, Probation department, court, medical, psychiatric, etc.).
- Participates in identifying client’s needs and triggers within a strength-based model.
- As a member of the Child and Family Team, will work closely and collaboratively with the other team members to ensure continuity of care is being provided toward ensuring their care plan and safety Plan.
- Is well versed in and is able to communicate to others the Wraparound philosophy, principles and process.
- Completes DMH/DCFS required documentation within agency contract meeting expected timelines and agency standard of practices.
- Consistently meet service needs of the Wraparound clients by providing any and all necessary services; and document accordingly so that service percentage expectation established by the agency are met or exceeded monthly.
- Will become familiar with “Ten Principles of Wraparound” and ensure all services provided maintain the fidelity of the Wraparound process the Child and Family Teams will work within.
- Attends Community-Based and Wraparound Program Department meetings, in-service trainings, and weekly supervision.
- Perform other duties as requested.
