Job Summary
The Accounting Supervisor fulfills a key role in coordinating the month-end close, budget preparation, cash forecasting and audit processes for the finance department. This role involves general accounting responsibilities, including the supervision of accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations. Under general supervision, the Accounting Supervisor ensures the accuracy and efficiency of monthly closing procedures, budget analysis, and financial audits, supporting the organization’s financial stability and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Month-End Close: Leads and manages the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Budget Preparation and Analysis: Coordinates agency & program budget development, periodic forecasting, and analysis to support organizational financial goals.
- Account Reconciliation: Conducts monthly reconciliations, including bank statements, expenses, accruals, and prepaid expenses, ensuring all accounts are properly balanced.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinates with external auditors, prepares audit schedules, and ensures compliance with audit standards and internal controls.
- Process Improvement: Develops and implements process improvement and procedural initiatives related to accounting, billing, payroll, and collections, collaborating with the CFO as needed.
- Special Projects: Manages and completes special projects and reports as assigned to support financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures adherence to all regulatory standards.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the finance department leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Previous experience in healthcare or non-profit accounting processes is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to both staff and patients in a professional manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other general software programs.
- Must maintain up-to-date technical knowledge in accounting practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, outside agencies, and the general public.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required. CPA track is a plus.
- Experience: Five (5) years of demonstrated accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or non-profit environment.
- Sobriety: If in recovery, must have at least two (2) years of continuous sobriety and maintain sobriety throughout employment.
