POSITION OVERVIEW

DIRECTOR OF PAYROLL & BENEFITS

We are looking for an experienced professional to support multi-state payroll and benefits operations. In this role, you will be responsible for payroll and benefits-related activities while directing the activities of the payroll administration team and respective staff members. 

This is a senior-level position requiring experience in payroll management and benefits administration. Knowledge of the ADP payroll platform is a plus. A background in both contact center operations and client services is preferred. Candidates for this role should be strong public speakers, excellent at building strong professional relationships, display a high degree of ownership, and possess a strong work ethic.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT DOES THE DIRECTOR OF PAYROLL AND BENEFITS DO?

The position develops and controls all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's payroll processing objectives, including relationships with internal and external auditors and state and federal agencies and maintaining and strengthening internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Direct the daily activities of payroll administrators
  • Oversee the entire payroll and benefits process
  • Establishing and setting up tax information in new states, resolving any outstanding issues with current states
  • Verify that approvals for all increases and promotions are received on time
  • Managing changes in HRIS system.
  • Process off-cycle payrolls for any items that missed during the regularly scheduled payrolls
  • Research any employee issues concerning missing pay
  • Verify that all clients are in the system and all employees are assigned to the correct client

Job Requirements 

  • Previous payroll management experience (3-5 years) 
  • Federal and State tax laws knowledge
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of payroll processes: garnishments, benefit deductions, taxes, FMLA experience, Work Comp experience, LOA experience, 
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of multi-state laws

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects, move objects from place to place, hold onto objects, and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must be authorized to work in their country of residence (The United States or Canada)
  • Must be willing to submit up to a LEVEL II background and/or security investigation with a fingerprint. Job offers are contingent on background/security investigation results
