Overview

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Oversee the general legal aspects of our business, with specific duties to oversee client contracts and agreement and contract management, property leases, construction, workforce housing, legal research and compliance. As Counsel, you will safeguard the company reputation by guaranteeing that the company follows legal guidelines and give legal advice to management about all relevant issues. The successful candidate will effectively ensure legal conformity and minimize probability of exposure without hindering business opportunity and growth.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Law degree and admission to any state bar and qualify for Florida In-House Counsel.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate setting required.

 OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of hospitality/hotel/timeshare/housekeeping business or real estate an advantage to success but not required.
  • Understanding of the influences of the external environment of a corporation as well as the industry specific environment of the company.
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information quickly and adjust accordingly as new information becomes available.
  • Ability to seek out information internally throughout the organization as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates, team members, customers, vendors and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently within an office or virtual work environment while being flexible to the business needs.
  • Strong administrative skills with all administrative technology tools in order to work independently with limited administrative support.

  • Occasionally to Frequently – on average 5% to 25% of travel on a monthly basis

Essential Functions

The responsibilities below outline the general performance responsibilities of the position which may change from time to time.

  • Prepare, amend and manage all company business contracts related all lines of business. Requires providing accurate and timely counsel to internal business clients and executives to ensure company goals are met and risks are minimized. This skill requires business partnership to ensure business goals move forward.
  • Manage annual renewal of contracts related to business revenue (i.e. Housekeeping Services, Janitorial Services, etc.)
  • Perform annual review of contracts for compliance related to terms and conditions and recommend necessary changes based on changes in the law or business environment.
  • Assist General Counsel and internal business partners with merger and acquisition as needed.
  • Assist in development and management of internal governance policies, legal policies and regularly monitor compliance.
  • Research directly or assist in research of laws, cases and regulations that impact the operations of the business and deliver information to relevant internal business partners and assist in modifying operations as needed in order to achieve compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Perform directly or assist in performing compliance audits regarding areas of concern within the business or high litigation areas including.
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and apply effective risk management techniques to offer proactive advice on possible legal liabilities.
  • Communicate and negotiate with internal business partners creating relationships of trust and obtaining positive results for the company and the company’s interest.
  • When needed assist in the manage outside counsel on legal matters requiring additional legal support.
  • Conduct all work with integrity and responsibility.
  • Other legal and business assignments as needed.
