About the Role

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices for payment. The incumbent is also responsible for responding to inquiries from vendors and multiple departments throughout the organization regarding invoices, payment status, tax accruals, invoice reconciliation, and work with multiple non-USD currencies for payment disbursement.

What you’ll do:

• Proficiently use Matson’s accounts payable software systems (Workday and NSE) and imaging software (Onbase).
• Process payment vendor invoices, including invoices processed against purchase orders via three-way match.
• Enter manual “prepaid” checks, allotments, garnishments, credit and debit memos and wire transfer information into the A/P system.
• Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Work with department management and various other departments to perform accounting audits, resolve accounts payable problems, and/or conduct research.

You have these skills:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, & Outlook.
• Solid work ethic and customer focus. Sense of urgency regarding quality of work while meeting critical deadlines.
• Self-motivated, capable of handling multiple tasks, and working with minimal supervision in a team environment.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to research and analyze data.

And these qualifications:

• Requires three (3) or more years of experience in Accounts Payable.
• Familiarity with basic functions of accounts payable including, but not limited to, general accounting concepts, sales & use tax, 1099 filings, bank activities, vendor maintenance, and purchase order matching.

You’re also great at:

• Communication and interpersonal skills with a drive to exceed expectations.
• Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and comfortable working with external customers.

Extra credit if you have:

• Completed two (2) years of college.
• Experience in the transportation industry.
